In June 2018, Microsoft announced a price increase for its services from August 1, 2018.
This only affects Swiss Francs and Swedish Kronor.
The reason for this is that Microsoft wishes to harmonize its prices in the EU/EFTA zone.
As an indirect Microsoft CSP, we are therefore directly affected by these new rates and must align ourselves with them in order to continue providing the same services to our customers. We wanted to let you know about this new pricing scheme for Microsoft services, so that you can be as prepared as possible.

The reason for this increase

Several other currencies in the EU/EFTA zone have previously undergone changes in the price of certain products and services offered by Microsoft, such as Pounds Sterling and Norwegian Krone.
This could be explained by variations in the value of these currencies.
In Switzerland, similarly, an analysis was made of several economic aspects of the country such as its inflation rate, its level of competitiveness, its business models, etc. These factors contributed to the evaluation of the new prices, the verification that they were not disproportionate and also the estimation of their impact. These assessments are made periodically, which is why prices are adjusted on a regular basis.
License price increases are as follows: + 5% for most online services such as Office 365 and + 9% for Azure.

The impact of this decision

As a provider of cloud solutions for Microsoft, we are directly affected by these price variations.
In order to guarantee quality services, we are therefore aligning our prices with those of Microsoft, and to keep pace with this growing trend.
Our Microsoft-licensed customers, as well as any company with a Microsoft license, will be affected by Microsoft’s decision.
The new amounts will be updated from August 1, 2018. For more information, you can download the full document here.
