Long gone are the days when we only replaced our everyday items because they no longer worked.
Today, the pleasure lies in change for change’s sake.
Do you want to keep up with the times and get rid of your “old” cell phone for the sake of newer models?
No problem, but what do you do with the devices you’ve given up?
Here are a few ideas you may not have thought of yet…

Mobile recycling

1. Targeted use

In Switzerland, nearly 8 million unused phones fill our drawers.
We often forget, once we’ve replaced our smartphone, that when we chose it, we made sure it had multiple functionalities (the same goes for the new mobile you’ve just acquired).
Don’t forget that your deactivated mobile can replace another everyday accessory: calculator, alarm clock, game stand, notepad, flashlight, MP3 player…

2. It’s a gift!

It’s no longer of use to you, but in your entourage, it might make someone happy!
As the kids get older, they’ll need to be equipped.
This laptop will do the trick.
And if no one expresses the need today, it may be the case tomorrow.
Be generous and help slow down over-consumption.

3. A gesture for the planet

Only two out of ten phones are recycled.
You can take part in the recycling of electronic waste and increase this figure by following this eco-citizen initiative.
Your mobile is too old to be of interest to buyers, but it’s not finished yet.
It can reach the end of its life cycle.
Simply drop it off at a suitable recycling collection point.

4. Make a charitable gesture for solidarity recycling

Why not take this opportunity to donate your telephone?
Associations are multiplying in this type of collection.
The phones are then redistributed to those who can’t cover their expenses.
It’s called solidarity recycling, and it’s a good way to make your BA.

5. Fill your piggy bank for the vacations

If you like to change mobiles every year, it’s certain that the “old model” you no longer want is still valuable.
It can therefore be resold.
There are many platforms on the Internet and in stores that allow you to do this, so it’s up to you to compare the offers to find the most generous one and fill up your kitty for leisure activities, for example.
But you’ve probably already thought of that!
