Communication, collaboration and productivity are key to success in the modern business world. Organizations need to find new ways of optimizing these factors. This article looks at how ChatGPT Teams and Copilot for Microsoft 365, two tools that use artificial intelligence to improve the way people work and cooperate, can benefit organizations in different scenarios and which factors to consider when choosing which tool to use.

copilot versus chatGPT for team

Microsoft Copilot versus ChatGPT team are two artificial intelligence technologies developed to help you accomplish tasks and activities faster and more efficiently.
Although they may seem similar, there are significant differences between the two.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a chatbot designed to chat with you.ChatGPT uses machine learning algorithms to understand the context of the conversation and generate appropriate responses after asking it a question or prompt.Based on patterns learned from human language, it predicts the next word in a given sequence to produce a response.ChatGPT can respond more effectively if you provide more detail in your prompts.

Some of ChatGPT’s features include: writing essays, e-mails and cover letters, creating lists, describing art in detail, writing code, summarizing content, creating poems and song lyrics, creating CVs, etc.

ChatGPT for team

ChatGPT for team is a paid ChatGPT option offering additional features to the classic ChatGPT Plus.

The main advantage is that team conversations will not be used by default to train the model.
Another important advantage is that users can organize and share discussions in the workspace.

What is Copilot for Microsoft 365?

Copilot for Microsoft 365 is a digital assistant that uses AI to provide personalized help to users for various tasks and activities in Microsoft 365 applications.

Copilot uses Large Language Models (LLMs) with your Microsoft 365 data (including your calendar, e-mails, discussions, documents, meetings, etc.) to increase your productivity with these tools.

Integrated with the Microsoft 365 applications you use every day, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc., Copilot works with you to help boost your creativity, improve your productivity and enhance your skills.

For example, if you use Word, Copilot can help you paraphrase paragraphs or add more to your writing.
It can also recommend additional topics to include in your article.
Another thing Copilot provides for Word is the ability to “chat with the document”.
If you have hundreds of pages and want to quickly locate the relevant part or paragraph, you can simply ask Copilot for help.

Copilot for Microsoft 365 VS ChatGPT for team: comparisons

Although the ChatGPT and Copilot teams use OpenAI’s latest large multimodal model, GPT-4 Turbo, they are completely different software products.

ChatGPT Team is an all-in-one digital assistant capable of handling multiple tasks in the same environment.

Copilotis integrated into existing applications, to support you in this environment.

At the same time, they share some key features. For example, they both offer :

  • access to the latest AI models through OpenAI,
  • data security, which means that your data will not be used to train new models.

Where does Copilot excel?

Copilot for Microsoft 365 is integrated with your document space and Office tools in a way that ChatGPT simply can’t be.
For example, you can use Copilot chat to search your document in Microsoft 365 and summarize the results.

What is ChatGPT’s main strength?

Nothing in Microsoft 365 Copilot beats theuniversality of ChatGPT.
It lets you create and analyze anything.
ChatGPT data analysis is a feature that Copilot doesn’t offer (yet?!).

Another advantage of ChatGPT is that it supports custom GPTs. This is still a new area, but the community is quickly discovering how to integrate different tools with ChatGPT.
Again, this is something you won’t find in Microsoft 365 Copilots.

Product maturity

A different perspective is the product development phase.
ChatGPT has been available and in use for over a year now.
This has given OpenAI a small advantage over Microsoft teams in terms of the product development phase.

Copilot offers are still relatively new, and users may find that they are not yet very useful.
We’ll have to wait a few more months before drawing any conclusions.

At Infologo, we’re currently in a test phase with Copilot. We’ll be announcing this once it’s completed.

One of Copilot’s main drawbacks to date is that it does not support multiple languages.
This is not the case with ChatGPT.

Rates

The products are similar in terms of price.

  • ChatGPT for team costs $25 per user per month (minimum 2 users)
  • Copilot for Microsoft 365 costs $30 per user per month.

Note that you must pay one year in advance for both products, and that prices do not include taxes.

Conclusion

ChatGPT and Copilot for Microsoft 365 are both powerful AI assistants that can help you work faster, better and more creatively.
They have different strengths and weaknesses, depending on your needs and preferences.

ChatGPT for team takes the lead in terms of universality, data analysis and customized GPT support, while Copilot for Microsoft 365 has the advantage of seamless integration with Microsoft applications and services.

The cost is comparable, but you need to think about the benefits you get from each product before choosing one. In the end, the only way to find out which one is right for you is to try them out for yourself.
Unfortunately, none of them yet offer a free trial.
