With the launch of the Surface Studio announced last October, Microsoft has set out to shatter the myths and legends that suggest that a creative professional must necessarily use an Apple computer to work.
With a brand-new product, Microsoft intends to revolutionize the insidiously established rules.
From now on, graphic artists, designers, artists, creatives, marketers and curious amateurs can count on a Microsoft product that is reliable, solid and imposing – it’s about time.
Microsoft’s flagship PC of 2017 is now here for all to see.
Let’s take a closer look at what this little jewel of technology has in store for us…

The Surface Studio PC, the star of the moment

It’s impossible to miss the news: comments on Microsoft’s new PC are on everyone’s lips.
And if everyone’s talking about it, it’s for good reason.
Indeed, this innovative product seems to have nothing but assets and advantages, and demonstrations of its use tend to prove it in pictures, while waiting for more concrete feedback from users, even if the first ones are very conclusive and encouraging.
And to be a flagship product, the image and video creation sector is undoubtedly demanding.

Configurations to suit budgets and needs

As we don’t all have the same budget to spend on our work tools, and indeed don’t all have the same requirements in terms of use, Microsoft is offering 3 models of its little Surface Studio jewel, in a price range from CHF 3,000 to CHF 4,200.
Even though each device runs under Windows, we’re inclined to trust the brand and the product.
Indeed, this workstation is designed to be complete, and should appeal in many ways to the most experienced users, as well as to amateurs and beginners.

Proven seductive assets

Among all the advantages and little extras that can be attributed to the Microsoft Surface Studio, we’ve identified a few that we feel are essential if we’re to be convinced that the device is worth considering.

  • A high-performance, spacious, high-definition touch panel for a comfortable, pleasant workspace in all circumstances
  • Can be combined with various accessories from previous Surface tablets (keyboard and mouse) for greater mobility and lower costs for the curious
  • The small, effortless and risk-free 20° tilt, for ease of use in certain work contexts and optimized working conditions
  • Surface Pen stylus supplied as standard
  • The Dial accessory, a button that can be used on screen or desktop, and which remains compatible with other Surface models (Pro and Surface Book in particular).

On the other hand, we regret that the Surface Dial stylus, which enables greater creative freedom and wider access to settings, is sold at an additional cost (around CHF 100 at present).

A strong competitive presence

If the product stands out for its originality and novelty, the competition has no intention of letting Microsoft take over the market without reacting.
At Apple, we can imagine that teams are working hard to come up with new products for release in the near future, and at Dell, for example, we’re already working on a more than concrete project that promises a PC with two screens, like Nintendo’s pocket consoles, combined with a kind of Dial button like on the Surface Studio.
The future of the all-in-one PC aimed at the artistic world is therefore promising, and the battle of skills, features and configurations promises to be tough but promising for users, professional or otherwise.
