You didn’t order anything, but you’ll get it anyway!
And, of course, you’ll have to pay… The FRC (Fédération Romande des Consommateurs) has uncovered a new fraud affecting SMEs throughout Switzerland.
The maneuver is simple and it works, you’ll see.
Ding dong!
A deliveryman rings your doorbell and (unknowingly) delivers goods you didn’t order.
Most of the time, these are consumables for printing equipment (printers or photocopiers).
You sign the receipt and take delivery of the parcel among others.
And when you unpack the goods, you realize that you didn’t order them.
Now that the parcel has been opened and is in your possession, you’ll be looking to get rid of it.
But it won’t be as easy as it sounds.
This type of outright fraud is in vogue, and fraudsters are well aware of the loopholes in the system.
Considered a forced sale, fraud must of course be reported.
But the trap set is difficult to destroy, and fraudsters hide under multiple names, making dismantling complicated.
A common feature of these so-called aggressive sales is that they are domiciled in Basel.
So be vigilant!
