Phishing is an email scam that uses the identity of a well-known company to rob individuals of their login details, passwords or credit card numbers.
These are known as phishing e-mails.

The most common phishing e-mails are those from banks, ISPs, Ebay, Paypal and service providers (SIG, SIL, etc.).
These e-mails contain a link to a page identical to the one you have already used or visited several times (and which belonged to the actual provider), where you are asked to update your personal data (login, password, credit card number, etc.).
