New PC models welcome AI with the arrival of the Intel Core Ultra chip on Dell and Lenovo devices dedicated to accelerating artificial intelligence functionalities.
A specialized key to activate Windows Copilot is also present on keyboards. Windows keyboards will soon feature a dedicated Copilot activation key Computer manufacturers have also jumped on the AI bandwagon, equipping their new models with chips manufactured with GenAI-doped functionalities.
After AMD with its Ryzen 8040 processor and Qualcomm with its Snapdragon X Elite, Intel recently revealed its Core Ultra chip, which the company claims represents the most significant change to its hardware architecture for its products in 40 years.
This processor is aimed at high-end computers, as it incorporates AI acceleration features.
This new-generation chip is composed of different versions depending on the number of cores (12 to 16), maximum clock frequency (from 4.3 to 5.1 GHz) and cache memory (12 to 24 Mb).
The manufacturer claims that the addition of a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) enables AI workloads to be handled more effectively.

At Dell

According to Intel, more than 200 PC models produced from 2024 onwards should be equipped with the Core Ultra.
What’s more, some of the market leaders have made announcements related to this chip designed for AI.
Like Dell, the XPS 16 features a Core Ultra chip alongside NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX GPUs.
Dell emphasizes that the PC no longer needs to rely solely on the CPU or GPU for processing and performance.
And in the field of graphic design, “the addition of the NPU automatically exploits the computational engine adapted to [la] workload, allowing images to be edited faster than ever before, while preserving battery life”.

At Lenovo

Three models are available from Lenovo : the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 and the IdeaPad Pro 5i.
These laptops, all equipped with the Intel Core Ultra chip for AI acceleration support, represent, according to the manufacturer, “the new wave of professional computing”.
Creativity is optimized thanks to the tools for creating digital content with these machines, without compromising overall system performance.7

Things to remember

Dell and Lenovo highlight the benefits of integrating Copilot into Windows 11 (Microsoft’s AI assistant based on OpenAI technology).
Both manufacturers have revealed PC models with a new keyboard that includes a new key for activating Copilot. As a central element of the PC keyboard, the Copilot key joins the Windows key.
Microsoft stated in a separate press release that Copilot will be the starting point in the world of AI on the PC, marking a new stage in its relationship with Windows.
It goes without saying that future Surface devices will be equipped with Copilot.
Other models equipped with this touch should also be presented at the CES show in Las Vegas, which opens its doors this Tuesday, January 9.
