According to Check point’s Threat Intelligence Report, Swiss companies are frequently the target of cyber attacks, almost as often as global corporations.
Attacks are more likely to be carried out via popular websites than via e-mail.

Let’s take stock.

How does this type of cyber-attack materialize?

Contrary to popular belief, phishing attacks are not the most widespread form of malware in Switzerland.
Most malicious files are transmitted via the web, in particular fraudulent websites.

According to Check Point, only 15% of emails are subject to phishing attempts, compared with 84% via the web.

The reason?

According to an analysis by Check Point’s chief researcher, this is due to Switzerland’s “multilingualism”.
Adapting to this type of specificity is too complex and more costly for these web hackers to organize e-mail campaigns.
It’s simpler to pollute highly-frequented or even official websites.

How often?

According to the same source, over the last six months, the average Swiss company has been the target of a cyber attack 355 times a week.
A significant number of attacks per week.

Between August and December 2019, these weekly attacks were still below the global average.

However, since the start of 2020, the number of attacks has risen sharply, reaching 400 per company in the week of January 27, 2020.

The frequency of these attacks has only increased in recent months, and should serve as a wake-up call to the need to take the necessary precautions against cyber attacks.
