What is a softphone?
A softphone is specialized software for telephone communication over the Internet.
It gives you access to all the functions of a traditional telephone, but with a host of web-based features.
This means you can make a call from your computer to a conventional telephone or computer, at a lower cost than a conventional telephone line.
Most softphones on the market offer a range of services, including video calling, presence (to check the availability of contacts), file transfer, conversation recording and mailbox integration (to contact a contact directly following an e-mail).
Take 3CX Phone System, for example, which is less expensive than a traditional PBX and cuts your communication costs.
The price is based on the number of simultaneous calls the customer needs, so there are no extra costs for extensions.
